{inspiration board #74} An Elegant Affair
Posted on January 24th, 2012Many of my favorite things make up this wonderfully elegant board. I love the instance appearance and sense of grace when one wears a beautiful shoulder bearing dress, and anyone who has ever visited my humble blog knows that my preferred palette pleasers are pears and French macarons. I have a love of ornate and grand doors and recently I have thought myself a connoisseur of vintage doorknob. Could I have been influenced by the crystal doorknobs on every door in my childhood home? As a child, I thought very little of all those glistening doorknobs. Now, I wish I had every one of them. And please tell me who does not love twinkle lights…all year long? They can make the dullest of rooms or gardens magical.
It’s funny how all of us have our “things” that make us happy and past memories that shape what we like and appreciate as adults. I sometimes wonder. of my online friends, what little everyday things fills their day with joy. What quirky things make you smile?

{inspiration board # 73} Let It Snow!
Posted on December 21st, 2011As much as I complain about cold weather there is nothing like the smell of cinnamon from a warm, freshly baked apple pie to keep the winter blues away…

Inspiration Board #51 – The Lion & The Lamb
Posted on June 28th, 2010I, too, have been mesmerized by the story of forbidden love between mythical creatures and mortals. In anticipation of the big premier of Eclipse, the next cinematic installment in the Twilight saga, it is easy to see where I gathered my inspiration for this board. A little dark but all in good fun…
“It is not the darkness that scares me, it is the things that are done in the darkness that does…” Naomi

Inspiration Board # 46 – Art Deco Elegance
Posted on May 24th, 2010When I think of Art-Deco period, I think of and era of extravagance, decadence, great glamour, and stylish ladies being courted by men in fancy cars. A time gone by, yet the elegance of the Art Deco period is still evident today in architecture, fashion, visual arts, and design. As history has taught us, timeless elegance never goes out of style.

Inspiration Board # 43 – A Wedding at Silver Lock Manor
Posted on May 13th, 2010An old money wedding with a touch of modern in the mix. The table setting adds just enough “modern” to the feel of this board.
As with decor, do not be afraid to mix period pieces with those of a more modern feel. To be safe, make sure you pick like colors in both the old and new pieces. If done correctly, the pieces will not compete. Instead, they will create enough depth and contrast to compliment the other.

Inspiration Board # 42 – Heart of Gold
Posted on May 5th, 2010The color gold does not have to be reserved for weddings that take place during the holiday season or colder months. It can be used with brown, ivory, and mustard yellow to create a fresh palette that can also be used in seasons with warmer months.
In this board, mustard yellow, and gold, with a few hints of coffee bean brown create an elegant palette for anytime of the year.

Wedding Board Inspiration # 32 – Nostalgia
Posted on April 1st, 2010One day my children will find the box I keep all the special things I have saved from the very first dates that David and I went on, the palaces we have travelled to together and, of course, our wedding celebration.
When they open this special box, I hope it will give them a glimpse of how the happiest days of my life began and how we lived and loved. I thought about that special box while creating this board.

Posted on March 16th, 2010This is love at first sight for me!! I usually do not post on Tuesday’s because it’s my “business” day but my beautiful fellow blogger friend Sofia and her partner Andre of Brancoprata, created one of the most beautiful Vintage Love tablescapes I have seen in awhile. I had to share this with you! I am not surprised; Sofia and Andre ooze great taste.
This tablescape was inspired by the Free Garden Stripe Invitation Suite designed by Cambria Evans of J.Bartyn Design and Manufacturing exclusively for Marry You Me. You can download the entire invitation suite right here.
