Photographer Samm Blake – Annabel & Matthew’s Wedding
Posted on January 26th, 2012Even though this is indeed a wedding blog, I seldom highlight real weddings. However, from time to time I come across a wedding, other than ones I have designed, that I truly admire and feel the need to share. The weddings that I do feature are not only chosen because of the details, but because of the photography, as well. You can have the best details in the world but if you have a mediocre photographer, it really would not matter if your details were made of gold. In this case, the photography caught my attention and then the details of the wedding followed suit.
I contacted Samm Blake, a wedding and portrait photographer in Australia, and asked if she would allow me to share Annabel and Matthew’s wedding day with you. To my delight, she was more than happy to. I don’t know much about Samm Blake other than she is based in Melbourne and is one heck of a photographer. Intrigued by her work, I lingered on her site to see more and was not disappointed. I am officially a fan.
Although Samm shot some of the wedding in black and white, I chose to focus on the colored photos…although I might just slip a black and white beauty in! In my opinion, all of the images are beautiful. My favorite image is the one of the yellow flower printed skirt with the back of a bridesmaid’s shoe. It reminds me of the female characters in Mad Men. So chic! Enjoy the images! Thank you Samm for sharing this beautiful wedding with us!

Rustic Chic LA Lair
Posted on August 23rd, 2011You are probably thinking the very same thought I had when I came up with the title of this post, how could the words “rustic chic” have anything to do with the city of Los Angeles. However, in this home they do…and brilliantly so! The dark floors, weathered interiors, and neutral walls of this home, make it the perfect respite from the hustle and bustle of everyday life…even in the City of Angels.

{ideas & inspiration} The Perfect Summer Day
Posted on August 8th, 2011…imagine the perfect summer day spent relaxing in the splendor of nature in such a perfect setting? Bright pink blooms give vintage bottles a fancy fill set next to rose colored glasses to compliment the romantic mood. A hammock and heirloom quilts await the first of many naps to be taken on the perfect summer day…

Inspiration Board # 56 – The Rehearsal
Posted on October 4th, 2010This inspiration board is abounding with soft colors! Shades of brown are used to enhance and liven up the various shades of blues and pinks without being too distracting or overbearing. Because of brown’s ability to work with almost any color combination, it is often used to accent and pull the softer elements of a palette together. The colors in this board would work well in a winter or spring wedding.

Inspiration Board # 50 – Summer Love
Posted on June 16th, 2010We all have things that might trigger a sweet memory or two of our fondest times. Many of the images in this board remind me of warm summer days, typing secret love notes on my mother’s typewriter, making red velvet cupcakes with cream cheese frosting, and the country fair that came to the town we moved to every summer.

Inspiration Board # 49 – Not So Shabby Chic
Posted on June 10th, 2010There is something so rich and beautiful that happens when gold and fuschia are paired. Together, gold and fuschia create a sophisticated palette with little effort.
To create a look similar to the board below for your wedding, use vintage cake stands, mis-matched tea cups, and mini-chandeliers in various lengths above your dessert or reception tables. Place different types of flowers in various shades of pink and fuschia on your reception tables to further enhance your shabby chic theme.

Inspiration Board # 46 – Art Deco Elegance
Posted on May 24th, 2010When I think of Art-Deco period, I think of and era of extravagance, decadence, great glamour, and stylish ladies being courted by men in fancy cars. A time gone by, yet the elegance of the Art Deco period is still evident today in architecture, fashion, visual arts, and design. As history has taught us, timeless elegance never goes out of style.

Board # 17 – La Mariée Parisienne ( The Parisian Bride)
Posted on February 18th, 2010Strolling through the vintage shops and discovering the flea markets of Paris to find one of a kind treasures is what inspired me to create this board. The second source of inspiration was the beauty of the city itself. Paris is one of those rare and enchanting places that needs no explanation for its appeal.
