{inspiration board #74} An Elegant Affair
Posted on January 24th, 2012Many of my favorite things make up this wonderfully elegant board. I love the instance appearance and sense of grace when one wears a beautiful shoulder bearing dress, and anyone who has ever visited my humble blog knows that my preferred palette pleasers are pears and French macarons. I have a love of ornate and grand doors and recently I have thought myself a connoisseur of vintage doorknob. Could I have been influenced by the crystal doorknobs on every door in my childhood home? As a child, I thought very little of all those glistening doorknobs. Now, I wish I had every one of them. And please tell me who does not love twinkle lights…all year long? They can make the dullest of rooms or gardens magical.
It’s funny how all of us have our “things” that make us happy and past memories that shape what we like and appreciate as adults. I sometimes wonder. of my online friends, what little everyday things fills their day with joy. What quirky things make you smile?

{ideas & inspiration} Crisp White & Brilliant Blue
Posted on June 14th, 2011Lately there has been lots of talk about styled shoots and how, at times, they can make a bride feel overwhelmed that she cannot recreate what she sees for her own wedding.
I am a huge fan of styled shoots and as one of my favorite bloggers recently wrote, “they aren’t going anywhere.” I am glad they aren’t because not only do I like creating them, I love featuring those done by other designers, too.
I stumbled upon The French Bouquet a blog by a florist who is based in Tulsa. The minute I saw this gorgeous blue and white tablescape I understood immediately why it was featured in the Spring / Summer 2011 issue of The Brides of Oklahoma magazine. Crisp white and brilliant blue is perfectly placed in this all white venue.
I am a fan of chic and clean; the floral arrangements and boutonniere by The French Bouquet and tablescape by Zinke Design are just that. Perfectly chic!

{bridal trousseau} Ladies Who Brunch
Posted on February 4th, 2011For the months leading up to your wedding you are going to be inundated with wedding related duties, tasks, and errands. Some of your friends will feel a bit slighted. Understandably so because all you have had on the brain since you said, “Yes!” are your wedding plans.
Be sure to make time for your BFFs. Send your girls a hand written note on a fancy card inviting them to get dolled up for a day of brunch, mani pedis, and non wedding related shopping! Have a “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” girl day even if the closest Tiffany to you is your little sister and relax…the wedding plans can wait.

Inspiration Board # 57 – River’s Bend
Posted on December 5th, 2010I am in constant awe of nature. The colors, the textures, the changing of Earth’s canvas with the start of every season. In nature, you can stand witness, right before your very eyes, to the perfect ever-changing canvas painted by an invisible hand.
Colors in nature never clash and unlike other elements in nature they do not fight to be seen or heard…they just are. Like a beautiful flower, or a tree sometimes as in nature, to be noticed all one must do is be still.

The Timeless Elegance of Black, White, and Gold
Posted on August 24th, 2010Black and white, together, make for a classic pairing. Add red to the palette and you have a bold statement like an exclamation point at the end of a sentence. Introduce gold to black and white and you have an elegantly subtle way of declaring, “I’m just as bold as red however I do not have to scream as loud to be heard.”

I Am Loving
Posted on July 30th, 2010… this trompe l’oeil “dresser”! It is actually made of an old office cabinet. Painted white and black, the black details were painted freehand! A flea market find that turned into a gorgeous work of art. Pink wire ribbon was used as “tassels” and shaped to appear as if they are in continuous motion. What do you think? I think this is genius!

Inspiration To Reality – Brancoprata & Style Me Pretty
Posted on April 23rd, 2010One of my favorite bloggers in the world Sofia of Brancoprata, was chosen by Abby Larson of Style Me Pretty (another favorite) to have their amazingly beautiful, sexy, and girly inspiration board come to life! All the amazing vendors who made this happen must of had a ball bringing with this one. The details and colors are a perfect interpretation of Sofia’s board!
I am a little biased for two reasons; first this shoot includes all of my favorite colors and two, I love everything about Brancoprata!
Check out the rest of this shoot here. It is absolutely BANANAS!

Congratulations Sofia!
